Bloom Where You Are Planted
Flowers are some of the most beautiful creations on the earth. However, when we look at them we seldom think of the process it took for those flowers to bloom into their grace. A few months ago I did a presentation at church entitled, “Bloom Where You Are Planted,” and reviewed the importance of recognizing that life is a process in which we navigate many stages- seed planting, watering and pruning. During this presentation I discussed the importance of having fertile soil, one ready for cultivation and not surrounded by drainage or other destructive vegetation. I then reviewed the beneficial need for rain in our lives that enables us to grow us and allow us to build resilience to life’s situations. Lastly, I discussed the importance of pruning and how God will remove the things he has deemed useless from attaching themselves to us. Although a painful process pruning is necessary for consistent growth.
My AHA moment of the day:
Last week I received flowers at work and noticed over the past several days that one flower hadn’t bloomed. I put more water into the vase and still no movement. Today, seven days later, I looked on my table and noticed that the flower opened up. I released a silent chuckle and acknowledged God’s way of reminding me that just because things don’t appear to be blooming on the surface there is still a growth process occurring inside and once God is determined to reveal your purpose it will bloom for others to see…The moral of this story is to be patient, acknowledge the role rain and storms have in your life, accept the pruning from things cluttering your growth and be prepared to bloom where you are planted!
