Meet Tamara

Tamara’s journey toward practicing a more positive mindset began over 18 years ago when she was diagnosed with Alopecia Areata (a hair loss condition). It was during that time that she began learning about the importance of thoughts, God’s encouragement to think on things above and how shifting our mindsets could contribute to positive change and healing - whether it be mentally, physically, emotionally, financially or spiritually. As a result, Tamara became more intentional about her thoughts, actions and decisions and began incorporating various strategies to help her live a more optimistic lifestyle. She quickly noticed the benefits of prayer, positive self-talk, affirmations, creating functional strengths and believing that all things are possible with God. Ultimately, Tamara was led to create New Mindset New Outcome to share her experiences and resources with others who desire a new way of being, thinking and doing.

Tamara Sheppard Bass has been a proud social worker in the Rochester City School District for 15 years and brings more than two decades of experience in social-emotional education and training. Tamara has served as the Coordinator and Case Manager of several Student Support Services Department programs, contributing to facilitation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills and strategies of both students and staff. The vast restorative training and experiences she received, in conjunction with her personal and professional research, have developed Tamara’s passion for facilitating workshops on the restorative workplace and positive psychology benefits in the school setting.

Tamara is super excited to have recently completed her Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration and obtained her School District Leader certification. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from SUNY Geneseo in 2005; a Master of Social Work degree in 2008 from SUNY Brockport, a Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed. in school counseling) in 2018, and acquired her clinical social work license in 2020.

Tamara is also an active member of the praise and worship and prayer teams at her church and co-leads the social activities ministry. She is extremely honored to be a loving wife to her husband, Lamar, and an amazing paw-rent to their goldendoodle, Lilly.
